At its heart, Run For It has two goals:

  1. To encourage participation in a healthy activity (running and walking).
  2. To bring awareness to and raise funds for non-profit, civic, and charitable organizations in Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph, and Tucker Counties in West Virginia and Garrett County in Maryland.

There are three ways you can get involved.  You can be a racer, a team sponsor, and/or a race sponsor.

Racers and Entry Fees

Attention runners, walkers, rollers, and strollers!  If you’re all supporting the same cause, you can form a team to compete for awards.  For more information on becoming a Team Captain, please refer to page 10 of the 2024 Event Packet.

Participants can register for the event either online through the Run For It website or by submitting a hard copy entry form.  When registering, it is mandatory to specify the team or cause you are supporting.  Half of the entry fee will be donated to your chosen cause.

Team Sponsors and Sponsor Donations

Individuals, groups, and businesses can choose to support one or more teams.  Team sponsors may support their own team and/or other teams as well.  Please refer to page 11 of the 2024 Event Packet.

Team sponsors can donate any amount to any number of causes by either donating online through the Run For It website or by submitting a hard copy donation coupon.  It is important to note that 100% of sponsor donations support the team’s cause.

Race Sponsors and Awards

The Run For It event is supported by individuals, groups, and businesses.  You can find more details about this on page 12 of the 2024 Event Packet.

The Foundation provides the initial funds for the race awards purse.  The race sponsors then add to these funds, resulting in larger cash prizes for teams.  The team or cause that wins the awards will receive 100% of the cash prices.  For more information, please refer to page 5 of the 2024 Event Packet.

Participants can raise support for:

Arts, Area Programs, Animal Welfare, Charities, Churches, Civic Organizations, Community Improvement, Cultural Organizations, Education Activities, Emergency Services, Environmental Causes, Historic Preservation, Hospital & Medical Programs, Libraries & Literacy Programs, Non-profit Organizations, Parks & Recreation, Senior Citizen Programs, TCF Operations, and Youth Organizations.
