-October 5, 2015- Two Pocahontas County teams, Challenged Athletes of WV and Pocahontas County Senior Citizens, were among the 1100 racers that lined up for Tucker Community Foundation’s annual Run For It held September 26 in Davis.  Collectively, the teams raised $22,686 to benefit their organizations.  Thirty two team members walked and ran in support of Pocahontas county causes.

Challenged Athletes of WV took the top prize for Most Money Raised during the 2015 Run For It campaign winning $1,500.  Other awards included Pocahontas County Commission Award ($1,250);  Fastest 5k – Paula Heinke – 2nd Place Female 50-59 ($100), Tyler Anderson – 2nd Place 10 & Under Male ($175); David McDowell – Gold Star ($250).

Pocahontas County Senior Citizens awards included 2k Luck of the Draw – Payden Kerr ($100); Pocahontas County Commission Award ($1,250); McDonough Foundation Award ($1,000).

Altogether, fifty three teams from eight counties participated in the 2k walk and 5k race, the largest field to date.  Total proceeds generated from the event that benefit the region exceed $194,000.  The event is hosted by Tucker Community Foundation to raise additional support and awareness for nonprofits and community causes.
