Preston Teams Run for It – October 5, 2015 – Six Preston County teams were among the 1100 racers that lined up for Tucker Community Foundation’s annual Run For It held September 26. Collectively, the teams raised $12, 591 to benefit the Aurora Project, After School Explorers, Preston County Humane Society, Friends of the Cheat, Kingwood Elementary School, and the Preston Community Fund for unrestricted grants and scholarships.  More than sixty team members walked and ran in support of Preston county causes.

Friends of the Cheat award winners included Jeremy Sidebottom ($100) Luck of the Draw; Kevin Ryan ($100) 3rd Fastest Male 20-29, ($400) Preston County Commission Award; and ($500) McDonough Foundation Award.

Preston County Humane Society won ($50) Honorable Mention Best Team T-Shirt; ($400) Preston County Commission Award; and ($500) McDonough Foundation Award.

The Aurora Project captured ($400) Preston County Commission Award; and ($500) McDonough Foundation Award.

The Kingwood Stags won ($100) 3rd Place Best Team T-shirt; ($250) Gold Star Award; and $500 Preston County Commission Award; all to benefit Kingwood Elementary School.

The After-School Explorers won ($525) Preston County Commission Award; ($1,000) McDonough Foundation Award; ($100) Proud to be endowed with TCF Award; and ($250) Best Team Effort Overall.

The Preston Community Fund Runners, raising support to build an unrestricted endowment for the county, won ($200) 2nd Place Best Team T-shirt; ($100) Proud to be endowed with TCF Award; ($400) Preston County Commission Award; and ($1,000) McDonough Foundation Award.

Altogether, fifty three teams from eight counties participated in the 2k walk and 5k race in Davis, the largest field to date.  Total proceeds generated from the event that benefit causes represented the teams exceed $194,000.  The event is hosted by Tucker Community Foundation to raise additional support and awareness for nonprofits and community causes.
