Oakdale Church Runs For It – October 12, 2015 – Since 2012, one Grant County team consistently enters the line up in the region’s largest community benefit program. The Oakdale Youth Group had a strong presence with twenty-three team members walking and running to raise support and awareness for programs of the Oakdale Church.
Dustin Fridley was 3rd Place winner in the 2k First to Finish Youth Male division winning $100 and Colton Pumphrey won 3rd place ($125) in the Fastest 5k Male 11-14. The team also won a $750 Gold Star Award. Cash awards support the winner’s cause. In addition to race awards, the team raised $450 in team sponsor support, ending the day with $1,540.
Run For It, a 2k and 5k race held every fall on the streets of Davis, helps raise additional resources for nonprofits and community causes. Hosted by the Tucker Community Foundation, the annual program has generated more than $940,000 since 2007 for an eight county region that includes Grant County.
Total proceeds from this year’s event exceeded $194,000 and represent ½ of team entry fees, 100% of team sponsor support and race day awards provided by the host organization, Tucker Community Foundation, in partnership with race sponsors who contribute to the purse. Six county commissions support the program contributing a total of $19,000 in prize money to nonprofits and community causes willing to Run For It.
