The Tucker Community Foundation in partnership with the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon invites nonprofit organization staff, volunteers and board members serving Barbour County to a free workshop.

The Nonprofit Capacity Building Workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 24 at Medallion Restaurant in Philippi. Organizations can register by emailing edirector@tuckerfoundation.net or by calling 304-478-2930. The deadline to register is Friday, July 20 and lunch will be provided.

This workshop will help nonprofit staff, volunteers and board members assess their organization’s needs and provide the organizations with technical assistance. Specifically this workshop will focus on the following:

  • How to access technical assistance and training for the nonprofit staff and organization;
  • How to evaluate the nonprofit’s capacity building needs through the WVNPA’s Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence;
  • The latest training opportunities available to nonprofit organizations through grant funding; and
  • What the organization and other nonprofit professionals are excelling at now and how to be successful.

Nonprofit organizations that attend and complete an assessment will be eligible for one free registration for the Nonprofit Leadership Summit hosted by the West Virginia Nonprofit Association (WVNPA) on Sept. 25-26 in Canaan Valley.

This workshop is funded by a grant awarded to Philanthropy WV and the WVNPA from USDA’s Rural Community Development Initiative. The grant is helping the Tucker Community Foundation provide resources to help strengthen nonprofits serving Barbour County in partnership with the Pallottine Foundation.

The Tucker Community Foundation manages more than 120 endowed funds providing annual scholarships and grants to nonprofits and charitable causes throughout the eight-county service area. Inspired by the flood of 1985, the mission of the Foundation is to create opportunities for the communities we serve. For more information about the visit www.tuckerfoundation.net
