March 17, 2017 – The Preston community has a new opportunity to double their money and benefit their county. Tucker Community Foundation has issued a second match-challenge to benefit the Preston Community Fund, a permanent endowment that provides unrestricted grant funds for Preston County. The Foundation will match $1 for $1, up to $1,000, any 2017 donation to the fund.

Donations can be mailed to Tucker Community Foundation, 737 William Ave., Suite 1, Davis, WV 26260; checks payable to TCF- PCF, or donate online at https://www.facebook.com/PrestonCommunityFund/ or www.tuckerfoundation.net

Tax receipts are issued for any donations made to the fund.

The Preston Community Fund was the Foundation’s first area fund created in 2013 to benefit nonprofit and charitable causes in Preston County.  Tucker Community Foundation seeded the fund with a $5,000 match-challenge. Within a year the challenge was met and additional donations continue to grow the fund.  Randolph County followed suit and launched a Community Fund in January of this year, the Foundation’s second in the region it serves.

Grants from the Preston Community Fund are made on the recommendation of an advisory committee comprised of residents and donors of the geographic area.   In 2016 the Preston Community Fund with support from unrestricted income of the Foundation awarded $5,000 to the Court Appointed Special Advocates for children program (aka CASA).  The advisory committee will be meeting soon to make a recommendation on the next Preston Community Fund grant.
