Barbour Foundation Supports Local Teams

July 11, 2015 – The Barbour County Community Foundation (BCCF) presented a check for $1,500 to reward efforts of local teams participating in Run For It, an annual race held in Tucker County.  The race helps nonprofits and community organizations leverage additional support for operations and programming.

More than $80,000 will be awarded on race day, Saturday, Sept. 26, in Davis. Many awards are based on team effort determined by the number of team members present on race day and money raised before Sept. 15.  Large cash prizes are awarded to the five teams raising the most money overall. Other cash prizes include best t-shirt, luck of the draw, speed categories (First to Finish 2k and Fastest 5k), County Commission Awards, Tucker Community Foundation and McDonough Foundation Awards.  All race day awards benefit the community cause represented by the winning racers and winning teams.  Fifty three teams representing 8 counties are registered for this year’s race.

The BCCF Award will benefit five Barbour County teams based on the money they are able to raise for their cause before Sept. 15.  BCCF awards will be distributed on a sliding scale from $100 to $500. Local teams competing for these awards include Belington Public Library Bookaneers, Philippi Public Library Bookworms, Freedom Marchers (Belingon America Legion 96 & Auxiliary), Barbour County Team Health, and Kasson Eagles (Kasson PTO).

Race registration is open.  Anyone can join any team and racers do not have to run or walk together.  To register, download an entry form at www.tuckerfoundation.net/Run  or register online at www.raceroster.com/4874.  The 2k walk/5k race is dog-friendly and suitable for all ages and abilities.  The race course winds around the streets of Davis.

For more information, or to volunteer for the event, call the TCF Development Office at 304.259.5008 or email runforit@frontier.com.   Run For It is a program of Tucker Community Foundation with generous support from race sponsors around the region.
