Alpine Heritage Preservation/Artspring | Team Captain - Elaine George: Alpine Heritage Preservation is dedicated to the restoration of Cottrill's Opera House as a community cultural hub with a 366 seat theater for hosting live performance, film, and simulcast events. As AHP works to secure capital funds for the restoration, we host cultural and educational arts and entertainment opportunities throughout the year. ArtSpring is a committee of AHP and operates year-round in Tucker County to connect artists, businesses and communities. Our major activity, though, is ArtSpring Weekend – A Tour of Tucker County Arts. Growing each year, ArtSpring 2015 included over 50 events enjoyed by approximately 2000 participants – good for the arts, good for business and good for Tucker County. |
Friends of the Cheat | Team Captain - Amanda Pitzer: Friends of the Cheat (FOC) is a grassroots watershed group working to "restore, preserve, and promote the outstanding natural qualities of the Cheat River Watershed". FOC cleans up acid mine drainage pollution, monitors stream health, develops regional rail-trails, and public river accesses, and educates and advocates for a healthy environment. Challenged Athletes of WV | Team Captain - David Begg: Challenged Athletes of West Virginia provides sports and recreation opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. Programs include adaptive ski school operations in Pocahontas and Tucker County, volunteer opportunities, summer activities, and annual winter and summer multi sports camps for wounded veterans and their families. Challenged Athletes of WV is a Paralympic Sports Club and a chapter of Disabled Sports USA. |
Philippi Public Library Bookworms | Team Captain Judy Buckner Larry: The Philippi Public Library Bookworms team is raising funds, support and awareness for the library in order to match our WV Grant-in-Aid, meet operational expenses, update library services and programs and maintain an aging facility. |
DTEMS-PTO | Team Captain - Cynthia Shaffer: The Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School Parent Teacher Organization is currently working on raising money for a gymnasium restoration fund that will replace 30 year old bleachers and flooring in the gym. Safety is a primary focus for this project. |

Team Hannah | Team Captains - The Friend Family: Team Hannah was created in Hannah Friend's memory to support the youth in Tucker County through Christ's example of love. Today the fund sponsors community children with church camp scholarships, youth trips, and weekly youth activities. Through the North Fork Watershed Project (NFWP), FOB strives to remediate acid mine discharge and clean the North Fork of the Blackwater River. |

We are a service organization giving back and supporting our veterans. Canaan Valley Institute | Team Captain - Alyssa Hanna: CVI is partnering with NASA IV & V and Senator Capito to sponsor a Space and Technology Day for Tucker County and VEC fifth and sixth graders where they will get to speak with an astronaut on the International Space Station and learn about space and technology. |
