BACKGROUND:  Doug Preble worked and retired as a petroleum geologist.  He and his wife, Betty, moved to Canaan Valley after purchasing property in 1977.  The friendly people of Tucker County, the relaxing nature of the area, and the gorgeous mountains prompted them to build their home in Timberline (1978) where they have resided as full time residents since 1979.

Doug and Betty have both been very active in the community for many years.  The Prebles are members of the Methodist Church and attend Buena Chapel.  Betty is a member of both the Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Canaan Valley Women’s Club.  Doug served as President of the Canaan Valley Zoning Board. He is an avid golfer.

Betty states they are “happy to establish the Preble Scholarship Fund of TCEF to assist any graduating senior of TCHS that plans to attend college.”
