February 2, 2015 Tucker Community Foundation’s scholarship cycle is underway. Based on a competitive application process, more than $68,000 will be awarded this May to qualifying traditional and non-traditional students from Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker County, West Virginia and Garrett County, Maryland
High school seniors, students attending technical schools, Tucker County students attending a Christian elementary, middle or high school, or being home schooled employing Christian educational principles and values, college students, and other non-traditional students (e.g. adults returning to school) are encouraged to apply regardless of their field of study. Awards range from $500 to $4,000.
In addition to endowed fund awards, the White Grass Scholarship for $500 will benefit culinary art students and the Ryan Gosa Memorial Pass-Through Scholarship for $1,100 will benefit a Tucker County student pursuing studies in journalism or creative writing. Applications are available at the Foundation offices located in the Board of Education Annex at 100 Education Lane, Parsons and 774 William Ave, Davis; they can be downloaded at www.tuckerfoundation.net, and high school guidance counselors in the Foundation’s service area have copies for distribution. Competed applications are due by Friday, April 3 (postmark).
