– August 19, 2015 –

Tucker Community Foundation has more than $95,000 in grant funding to award this fall based on a competitive grant application. Nonprofit organizations from Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker County, WV and Garrett County, Maryland are eligible to apply. Applications must be received or postmarked before the close of business on Sept. 18 to be considered.

Of note, Robert Burns stated, “The Philip Warken Fund will provide $31,000 to benefit projects and programs helping the needy in Tucker County.  A new endowment, the Crimson Shamrock Literacy Fund, will provide support for activities that will lead to the improvement of literacy in West Virginia, and the Dehari Fund will provide grant support to promote education in Tucker County schools with preference given to school trips, speaker presentations to school, and education technology.”

A significant portion of the grant funds are partially restricted and can only be awarded to grantees that meet certain criteria; some grants are designated for particular organizations and other unrestricted funds can be awarded to any grantee from any county based recommendations from the grants committee.  Applicants can visit www.tuckerfoundation.net to view fund descriptions and download the grant application.
