Give2WV & Give Local America Day Campaign Benefits Tucker Community Foundation

Parsons, WV – As part of Give2WV, Tucker Community Foundation and the Hinton Area Foundation are among the charities featured in the 2015 Give Local America Day, a national campaign to promote and engage local giving scheduled to take place May 5 & 6. The 24-hour crowdfunding event provides an opportunity for donors to support endowments that impact and strengthen our communities.

Tucker Community Foundation (TCF) funds that are participating in the program include the Directors’ General Fund (benefiting TCF’s eight county region), Preston Community Fund, Tucker County Community and Economic Development Fund, Tucker Boulder Park Fund and the Tucker County EMS Fund. Donors are encouraged to make a gift on May 5^th and 6^th by visiting: www.Give2WV.org.

“This is a great opportunity for everyone connected to our community to contribute to the greater good and leverage the value of their gift to advance our community,” said Robert Burns, Executive Director of the Tucker Community Foundation. “Every dollar will go further if you give on May 5^th and 6^th.”

Tucker Community Foundation is encouraging everyone in the community to be a philanthropist. “A lot of people think you have to be rich to give back, but even the smallest donation can make a big difference,” said Burns. “Every dollar really does count for a community in need.”

In 2014, Give Local America’s first annual event resulted in more than $53 million being donated to local communities in just 24-hours. Starting 4:00 pm on Tuesday May 5 through 4:00 pm Wednesday, May 6, Give Local America is aiming to double fundraising to more than $100 million. The goal is to bring some of that success to the region served by Tucker Community Foundation.  That region includes Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker County, West Virginia and Garrett County, Maryland.

Held in partnership with nonprofit organizations and community foundations across the country, Give Local America is gearing up to be the largest online fundraising event in history.
