Parsons High School Alumni Scholarship Fund

 

TYPE OF FUND:  Scholarship                       DATE ESTABLISHED:   Jan. 29, 2001

 

PURPOSE:  To provide scholarships for Tucker County High School graduating seniors who are descendants of PHS alumni.

 

DISTRIBUTION:  Upon the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee and approval by the full Board of Directors.

 

VARIANCE POWER:  If, in the judgment of the TCF Board of Directors, the restrictions and conditions of the fund become unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community, the TCF Board of Directors maintains the right to modify the terms of this fund.  TCF has exclusive legal control over any contributed assets.

 

FUNDING:  From alumni of Parsons High School.

 

BACKGROUND:  The Parsons High School Alumni Association was formed in 1974.  Its first officers were J. Kenton Lambert, President; Nina Burns Buchanan, Vice President; Dovie M. Fansler, secretary.  Also on the board of directors were Don H. Carr and Patrick I. Nestor.  Members began awarding scholarships in 1988.

 

The corporation was formed to promote fellowship among the alumni of Parsons High School; to sponsor annual reunions of the alumni of Parsons High School; to keep all alumni informed about activities at Parsons High School which are of interest to the alumni; to promote activities whereby the good reputation of Parsons High School will be enhanced.

 

The Corporation is not organized for profit.  The membership is open to all persons who attended Parsons High School.  No distinction is made between graduates and non-graduates.
