Press Release
February 28, 2012

Tucker Community Foundation will strengthen its outreach in Preston County by seeding its first endowed area fund, the Preston Community Fund.  Endowed funds managed by the foundation are pooled to keep administrative costs low and invested for growth and income to provide a permanent source of funding.  To initiate the fund Tucker Community Foundation will match Preston Community Fund donations made prior to Jan. 1, 2015 dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000.

Once the unrestricted Preston Community Fund has reached the minimum fund requirement of $10,000, an advisory committee from Preston County will be appointed to make recommendations on distributions based on a competitive application process.

Individuals and businesses that wish to donate to the fund should mail their tax deductible check to TCF, P.O. Box 491, Parsons, WV 26287.  Checks should be made payable to TCF – PCF.  Donations of any size are accepted.

Tucker Community Foundation currently manages more than 80 endowed funds serving charitable causes, projects and organizations throughout Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker County, WV and Garrett County, MD. Income generated by each fund is distributed as a grant or scholarship award.

The foundation was started in 1989 as a tax-exempt public charity.  It is one of more than 700 community foundations nationwide that offer and manage permanent funds intended for local use. It is a member of Council on Foundations and a founding member of West Virginia Grantmakers (WVG).  Since its inception Tucker Community Foundation has distributed more than $4 million in grant and scholarship awards throughout the region.
