Mountaineer Humane Society Fund


TYPE OF FUND:  Agency Endowed             DATE ESTABLISHED:  August 2009 

PURPOSE:  To provide perpetual funding for the Mountaineer Humane Society, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization currently located in Davis, WV.     

DISTRIBUTION:  Upon request by the Mountaineer Humane Society and approval by the full Board of Directors of TCF.  All distributions are to the Mountaineer Humane Society.

VARIANCE POWER:  If, in the judgment of the TCF Board of Directors, the restrictions and conditions of the fund become unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community, the TCF Board of Directors maintains the right to modify the terms of this fund.

FUNDING:  Initial funding of $2,000 to establish the fund was donated by the Mountaineer Humane Society with additional funding coming from the donations of the general public.

BACKGROUND:  The mission of the organization “is to promote the adoption and responsible guardianship of homeless, neglected, abused and abandoned domestic animals; prevent pet overpopulation by sponsoring spay/neuter programs; and promote humane treatment of animals and prevent cruelty to animals by providing shelter, health care, and community education services”.  The Mountaineer Humane Society Fund of TCF was initiated with funds donated by the MHS along with Run For It proceeds and donations from the general public.  The organization started in October 2002 and serves all of Tucker County.
