Parsons, WV The Tucker Community Endowment Foundation (TCEF) is now taking applications for the 2008 Scholarship cycle. Applications are available at the TCEF office in Parsons, through area high school guidance counselors, online at www.tuckerfoundation.net and at the Five Rivers Library in Parsons and the Mountain Top Library in Thomas. All applications must be turned in to the Foundation office postmarked by April 4.
Students in the Foundations six county service area (Barbour, Grant, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker) are encouraged to apply. Several of the TCEF Endowed Funds are earmarked specifically for Pocahontas, Randolph and Petersburg High School graduates. A number of funds are for Tucker County graduates, but unrestricted funds of the Foundation allow for distributions to qualified students anywhere within in the TCEF service area. Endowed Funds of the Foundation will provide over $57,000 in available scholarship funds for the 2008 cycle.
High School, college and non-traditional students are encouraged to apply regardless of their field of study. Scholarship Funds of TCEF have a wide variety of distribution criteria. The Gary Wilson Scholarship Fund of TCEF is for K-12 students attending a Christian elementary, middle, or high school. Other scholarships are earmarked for students pursuing degrees in agriculture, education, or forestry. Scholarships are also available for students wanting to attend a trade or vocational school.
The Foundation awards Scholarships every spring, and grants every fall. Donations to TCEF are invested for growth and income, and only the income earned is distributed in the form of a grant or scholarship award. Since its inception in 1989, TCEF has distributed over $2 million back to the communities it serves in the form of grant and scholarship awards.
